Obituary for Edward Q. Garcia Sr.

EDWARD Q. GARCIA, SR., 86

EAST LIVERPOOL – Edward Q. Garcia, Sr., of St. Clair Avenue in East Liverpool, passed away at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 86.

A son of the late Quirino and Clotilda Guajardo Garcia, he was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 28, 1931. He came to this area in 1972.

Mr. Garcia was a Korean War veteran with the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska, and was retired from H.J. Schneider, Inc. as a contract estimator. He had also worked for Michael Baker Company as a plan developer.

A member of Holy Trinity Parish, he had also belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Dunbar, WV, and also the American Legion in Oklahoma at one time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Toka Jean Garcia, who passed away on January 13, 2015. They were married on May 14, 1952.

Surviving is a daughter, Maria Parfitt and her husband, Robert, and a son, Edward Q. Garcia, Jr. and his wife, JoAnn, all of East Liverpool. Two sons, Joseph Garcia and George Garcia, also preceded him in death.

There are twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Clara Allen of Clarita, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie McCluskey and by a brother, Joseph Garcia.

Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish will conduct a memorial service Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home.
