CAROL R. OSGOOD, 66

BEAVER, PA - Wellsville native Carol R. Osgood, 66, of St. Rt. 45 passed away at The Good Samaritan Hospice-Heritage Valley Beaver, Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 8:50 p.m. following a lengthy illness.

Born in East Liverpool on August 8, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Edward G. Osgood, Sr. and Mildred V. Rowley Osgood.

Carol was a 1969 graduate of Southern Local High School. She began her career working for Dr. Joe Benedetto in Alliance, Ohio before moving to Alexandria, VA, where she was associated with several oral and maxillofacial surgeons. From Virginia, Carol headed west to the San Francisco Bay Area, working a total of 26 years in the field of dentistry.

Carol returned to Ohio in December, 1998 and started working with people with developmental disabilities, at Threshold Residential Services as a Habilitation Specialist, then for five years at Opportunity Homes as shift supervisor. In 2005, she joined the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities until becoming disabled in April, 2009.

Carol was raised as a member of Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, and was a past Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters. She was a past member and officer of the former Order of Eastern Stars, Chapter 417 of Wellsville and was a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW Post #4111 in Lisbon.

Surviving is her brother, Edward G. Osgood, Jr. of Wellsville, and her sister, Pat Osgood Haskell of Rock Hill, SC. There are special nieces and nephews: Lewis and his wife Sara Haskell of South Thomaston, ME; Nathan Haskell of Rockport, ME; Rachel and her husband Jeff Osborne of Rock Hill, SC; James Moffett of Youngstown; Cynthia Moffett of East Liverpool; Brian Moffett of Lisbon; Michelle Moffett Columbus, Ohio, and Dean Spencer Osgood of Hamilton, OH.

Also surviving are three great nieces and two great nephews.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, Carol was preceded in death in August 1998 by her sister, Sandra Moffett, and by her infant brother, David Bruce Osgood, who died in November 1954.

Carol’s final wish is to thank all her many friends and family who have blessed her life and have supported her over the years. “Please do not shed tears of sadness for me; rather, share my smiles and think of one of my crazy ways and smile.”
