Obituary for Paul W. Staib Jr.

Paul W. Staib, Jr., 77

LISBON – Paul W. Staib, Jr., of Lisbon, passed away suddenly Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his home. He was 77.

Born in East Liverpool, May 19, 1941, he was a son of the late Paul W. Staib, Sr. and Margaret Trembly Staib. A machinist by trade, he worked at the Crucible Steel Company and Albco Foundry.

He was a member of the Beaver Local High School Class of 1959 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1959 to 1963. A member of the East Liverpool Lodge 681 of the Free and Accepted Masons, he was a 32nd Degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville.

Paul held membership in the American Legion Post 275 and loved to ride his Harley Davidson and fly his model airplane. A mechanical thinker and talented musician, he could play virtually any instrument. A perfectionist by nature, Paul was a resourceful craftsman and could repair just about anything at home or work and enjoyed “tinkering” around with things, which often led others to call him “Mr. Fix-it.”

He is survived by his wife, Debra Fox Staib at home. The couple married March 1, 2003. He also leaves a daughter Jennifer Porter and her husband, David, of Atwater, along with a son, Edward Stanley and his wife, Kimberly, of Marlboro, Ohio.

Above all things in life, Paul loved and adored his four grandchildren: Rachel Lamp, Olivia Stanley, Ivan Stanley and Everly Stanley.

He also leaves behind a sister Phyllis Swanson and her husband, Jim, of Arizona.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Staib Lucas, a brother Eugene Staib and his dog Sargent.

Pastor Elaine Weaver will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter, P.O. Box 3622, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
