Obituary for Dorothy Louise Bowers (Malone)

East Liverpool, Ohio- Dorothy Louise Bowers, 67, of Birch Road passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 9:15 p.m. at her residence following a brief illness.

Born July 8, 1950 at St. Mary’s, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Colvin Malone. She had spent most of her lifetime in this area and was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool. Dorothy was the baker at Vizun’z Restaurant in East End. Prior to that, she was employed at the Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell.

Her husband, John M. Bowers, Sr., whom she married November 20, 1981, survives at home. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Paula Lancaster and her husband, Tom of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Jackie Fargo of Duncan, Oklahoma; as well as two step-sons, John M. Bowers, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Woodland Hills, California, and Mark Christopher Bowers of Bel Aire, Maryland. There are seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Matheny and her husband, Charles of Hueytown, Alabama, and Betty Smith and her husband, Mark of Belmont, West Virginia; and four brothers, Dean Malone, Donald Malone and his wife, Donna, Larry Malone and Michael Malone all of Belmont, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Malone.

Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Reverend Eric Edwards of the church will officiate a funeral service at the funeral home at 5:00pm Monday.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center where the church will provide a meal.
