Obituary for Louise Thompson (Randall)

Louise Thompson (Randall), 92, was born on May 24, 1926 and was the eldest daughter of the late Rev. Edward and Mrs. Willie Randall (Smith) of Youngstown, Ohio.
Louise accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio. As a young girl the Randall family moved to Lisbon, Ohio then eventually to Wellsville where she had resided most of her life. After graduating from Wellsville High School in 1945 she married Ben Casey Thompson of Toronto, Ohio on June 9, 1946. From this union were born two children Benjamin Edward (Sandra) Thompson of Colerain Township, Ohio and Benita Jo Thompson of Boardman, Ohio. She also has two grandchildren, Benjamin Edward (Janice) Thompson II of Fairfield, Ohio and Alison Louise Thompson of Columbus, Ohio who she helped raise, two great-grandchildren, Ariana Thompson and Kody Thompson both of Fairfield, Ohio and a long list of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Thompson was a longtime devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsville where she sang in both the Women’s and Mass Choirs. Mrs. Thompson spent many years of her adult life very actively working in the church and with other affiliated organizations. She faithfully served for 27 years within the Eastern Ohio Baptist District Association as the Secretary of the Women’s Department traveling throughout the District to attend board meetings, conventions and other events. Simultaneously she also spent 26 years serving as the Secretary of the Ohio Valley Missionary Union.
Through the years she always had a strong interest in fashion (especially hats), cooking, baking, reading novels and current events. She attributed her longevity to “the good Lord’s mercy and grace” and spent her time relaxing and watching her daily lineup of Steve Harvey, Steve Wilkos, Maury and Judge Mabelean.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Casey Thompson, on February 7, 1994. Louise was also preceded in death by five sisters, Emma Bogan, Norma Shields, Yvonne Huff, Barbara Ann Shaw and Karen Lottier, and two brothers, Nathaniel Shaw and John Shaw Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Benita Jo Thompson of Boardman, Ohio; a son, Benjamin Edward “Corky” (Sandra) Thompson, of Colerain Township, Ohio; two grandchildren, Alison Louise Thompson of Columbus, Ohio and Benjamin Edward (Janice) Thompson II of Fairfield, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Ariana Thompson and Kody Thompson both of Fairfield, Ohio. Additionally, she leaves a sister Beverly (McArthur) Coleman of Wellsville, Ohio and a brother, Donald (Betty Jean) Shaw of Youngstown, Ohio.
