Obituary for John Joseph Owen

J. Joseph Owen, 64, of South Park Circle, Calcutta died at home Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 2011, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 20, 1946, in East Liverpool, a son of the late John D. Owen and Nita and John Bower, he lived in this area all his life.
He retired as the national sales director for the Hall China Co. in 2004 after 38 years of service.
A member of First United Methodist Church, he served on several committees through the years.
He was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1964 and East Liverpool Lodge 315, Free and Accepted Masons. He was a volunteer and coach for the former Old Timers Baseball Association and coached for the Calcutta Bulldogs football team.
Surviving at home is his wife, Doris Harker Owen, whom he married July 12, 1985.
Also surviving are four daughters, Tamme Guildoo and her husband, Mike, of East Liverpool, Tracy Barber and her husband, Mike, of Calcutta, Jordan Frampton and her husband, Scott, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Dr. Julia Tesch, of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Attorney John Owen and his wife, Jennifer, of Richmond, Va., and Eric Owen and his wife, Danielle, of Destin, Fla.
There are nine grandchildren, Katelyn and Addison Guildoo, Natalie, Nathan and Nicole Barber, Alexandria and Paige Frampton, Nicholas Owen, and Kade Owen.
Pastor Patrick Smith is to conduct services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial is to be at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions take the form of donations to FISH Food Pantry, 2108 Campground Road, Wellsville, Ohio 43968.
