Obituary for Glenda J. Deshler (Webber)

Dedicated educator, and loving wife, mother and sister, Glenda J. Deshler passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Hospice House in Poland with her family at her side. She was 65.

Glenda was born in East Liverpool on November 27, 1949, a daughter of the late Charles P. and Agnes B. Judy Webber. A lifelong area resident, she was a 1967 graduate of East Liverpool High School, and received her college degree at Kent State University. A devoted teacher, primarily at LaCroft and Westgate Elementary Schools, she retired in 2003.

On November 27, 1981, she married Danny J. Deshler, and they later became the proud parents of two daughters and loved following them and supporting them in all their life’s endeavors.

She had been a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church her entire life, and loved singing her favorite hymns there. Glenda also belonged to Business and Professional Women, VFW Post #66 Auxiliary, and the Tri-State Pottery Festival Committee, where she had served as the first lady president.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed crafts of all kinds, regularly making Christmas ornaments -- not only for her own family, but for her daughter Betsi’s students as well. Glenda was especially gifted at sewing, and had even made gowns and accessories for Betsi’s wedding as recently as last summer. Another of her beloved pastimes was traveling and taking cruises with her family, and she cherished the memories of several trips to visit her daughter, Jyl, in Florida.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Danny, as well as her daughters: Jylanna E. “Jyl” Deshler of Winter Garden, FL, and Betsi Deshler-Mudrick and her husband, Matthew, of East Liverpool… and Glenda’s faithful canine friend, Yoda, who was always at her side.

Also surviving is a sister, Charlotte L. Roberts, and a brother, Charles P. Webber and his wife, Karen, all of Calcutta. Glenda will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Tonyea Roberts, Bo Webber, Phillip Roberts, Allan Webber, Evan Webber, Summer Webber and Payson Webber, who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Honey”.

Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, from 3 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer of the church officiating.

Glenda will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Following the service, family and friends will return to the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.
