Obituary for Charlotte Elaine Snowden (Cooper)

Former East Liverpool resident Charlotte Elaine Snowden passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at National Church Residences in Hilliard, OH at the age of 84. Elaine had moved to the Columbus area in 1994 to be closer to family.

Born on September 13, 1930 in East Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Alice Mercer Cooper.

She was a graduate of the East Liverpool High School and the East Liverpool School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in the office of the late Dr. William J. Horger and in the obstetrical and surgical departments at East Liverpool City Hospital, retiring in 1992. A member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, she also belonged to the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool and the Parkview Presbyterian Church in Reynoldsburg.

Elaine was married to the late Frederick A. Snowden Jr. on July 25, 1953; he preceded her in death on August 13, 1993.

Surviving are her four children: D. Kevin (Lynn) Snowden of Friendswood, TX; Dr. Dwight C. (Theresa) Snowden of Canal Winchester, OH; Deborah K. (Greg) Ackerman of Hilliard, OH; and Lori S. (Wayne Kittle) Snowden of Gahanna, OH.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Snowden, Jonathan Snowden, Barbara (Andy) Ling, Joseph Snowden, John Ackerman, Allison Ackerman, Elizabeth (Luke) Smathers, and Rebecca Kittle, along with great-grandsons, Noah and Cooper Ling.

Her sister, Ann L. (Fred) Bignell of Emporium, PA survives along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

A sister, Twyla Cooper Ball, and a niece, Joanne Ball Hetzer, died in 2013. Two sisters died in infancy.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, with Rev. Dr. Duane Hetzer officiating.

Elaine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Riverview Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the burial at the Dawson Family Center.
