Obituary for Marvin Evan Cunningham

Wellsville, Ohio- Marvin Evan Cunningham, 82, of Campground Road passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Born August 2, 1936 at Chester, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Margaret “Hettie” Cunningham. A lifetime area resident, he had been employed as a welder at the Stevenson Manufacturing Company in Wellsville for the past 15 years. Prior to that he had worked at the former Knowles Pottery and the former Patterson Foundry.

A veteran of the United States Army, he also was a member of the former 1st United Methodist Church in Wellsville.

His wife, Mary Jane Cunningham, whom he married June 26, 1960, survives at home. There are four sons, Mark Cunningham and his wife, Becky of East Liverpool, Ohio, John Cunningham of Lisbon, Ohio, Daniel Cunningham and his wife, Cathy of Rogers, Ohio, and Jason Cunningham of Austintown, Ohio.

Five grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Hunter, Alex, and Caroline Cunningham survive him as well as three sisters, Margaret Boyd of East Liverpool, Gloria Zehnder of East Liverpool, and Bonnie Jividen and her husband, Harold of St. Petersburg, Florida; and one brother, Paul Cunningham and his wife, Olive of East Liverpool.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Miriam Colbert; and two brothers, Ron Cunningham and Ted Cunningham.

Private services were held at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Friday at 12:00 pm with the Evangelist Will Montgomery of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Wellsville.
