Obituary for Donald C. Mackey

Donald C. Mackey, 80

HERNANDO, MISSISSIPPI – Donald C. Mackey, 80, of Green T Drive South in Hernando, passed away Wednesday morning, February 7, 2018 4:30 a.m. at North Delta Hospice & Pallative Care in South Haven, Mississippi following a lengthy illness.

Born in East Liverpool, October 15, 1937, he was a son of the late Chester and Bertha Green Mackey. Don was a member of the class of 1955 at East Liverpool High School.

Don had retired from the customer relations department of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron following 27 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, E. Pauline DeBee Mackey, at home. There are two daughters, Cindy Powell and her husband Clinton of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Stephanie Hernon, of Marysville, California, as well as his son, Randy Mackey of Hernando.

He will be sadly missed by six grandchildren, Lindsay Cox Orr of New Cumberland, West Virginia, Danielle Powell Carter of Hudson, Iowa, Cassie Powell Phillips of Madison, Mississippi, Kati Cox of American Canyon, California, Steven Mackey and Chelsea Mackey of Cambridge, England, and ten great-grandchildren, Noah, Sydney, Grace, Jackson, Virginia, Nathaniel, Max, Knox, Eliza and Rachel, as well as his sister Marilyn Williams and her husband David, of Wellsville.

Friends may visit Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Pastor Larry Hukill of the First United Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service Monday at 12 noon at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery following which friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
